🧳 Required Travel Documents for Departing from Vietnam

Before boarding any domestic or international flight from Vietnam, passengers must ensure they carry the necessary documents as required by Vietnam’s aviation authorities. These documents are essential for check-in, security screening, and boarding.

✈️ 1. Air Ticket

Passengers must have a valid air ticket to check in at the airport.
Air tickets can be:
- Hard copy (printed ticket)
- Electronic ticket (e-ticket) presented via:
  - Email
  - Mobile apps (e.g., Wallet on iPhone)

📑 2. Travel Documents

Travel documents must be:

Originals or notarized copies
Valid and contain a photo
In accordance with legal regulations

Document requirements vary depending on citizenship status and age.

🌍 For Foreign Nationals Departing from Vietnam

Foreign passengers must carry one of the following valid documents or electronic equivalents:

Passport with latest Vietnam entry stamp, or valid international travel document
Vietnam visa, permanent/temporary residence card, or APEC business travel card
Identity cards issued by Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to diplomats or consular staff
International or Vietnamese driver’s license
Official ID cards issued by Vietnamese airlines or airport security
Level 2 Electronic Identification Account (via VNeID)

🔁 In Case of Passport Loss

A diplomatic note (from the consulate/embassy) or official letter (from the Department of Foreign Affairs, verified by the police) is required.
This must:
- Confirm the passenger’s identity and passport loss
- Include a photo with an official stamp
- Be valid for 30 days from the confirmation date

🇻🇳 For Vietnamese Citizens (Age 14 and Older)

Passengers must present one of the following documents (or electronic equivalents):

National ID card (valid until December 31, 2024) or Citizen Identification Card
Police or military ID card
Passport or travel permit
Residence documents: visa, permanent or temporary residence card
Driving license
Other official ID cards, such as:
- National Assembly Delegate Card
- Party Membership Card
- Journalist Card
- Civil Aviation Security Committee Card
- Airline/airport staff ID cards

👶 For Vietnamese Citizens Under 14 Years Old

Required documents (or valid electronic versions) include:

Citizen ID card (if available) or passport (including joint passports with parents)
Original or certified birth certificate
Notification of birth (for infants under 2 months)
Extract or certificate of civil status
Letter of confirmation from a registered social organization (valid for 6 months)
Personal identity certification by local authorities (with photo and stamp, valid for 30 days)
Level 2 Electronic Identification Account of the child or of the accompanying parent/guardian (must show child’s personal details)

🧒 For Vietnamese Passengers Aged 14+ but Less Than 20 Days Over 14

This age group may use the same documents as children under 14, especially if they do not yet have a valid ID or are in the process of getting a Citizen ID.

📝 Notes for All Passengers

All documents must be valid and unexpired.
Electronic identification is accepted only if it meets Level 2 security standards on Vietnam’s VNeID app.
Passengers should prepare original documents in advance and allow extra time at the airport for verification if using birth certificates or identity confirmation letters.
